Fractions
Students run/modify a Scratch program and observe outputs in this activity. In the program, animals tell a number story. The primary learning goal is to gain experience working with fractions. In addition, students will learn that the Scratch workspace and computer programs are made up of different parts. They search for and try out different commands and learn which changes affect the program’s output. The activity starts with a whole-class discussion about using Scratch to get extra practice with math and build coding skills. Then, students will go to their own computers and complete the activity individually.
